I am in the business of empowering others, especially if you are a parent or work with children. I have seen first hand how the sharing of knowledge, experience and ideas, and how learning from each other, has had a positive and far reaching effect. I offer courses on a range of topics, and ensure that my courses are further tailored to the needs of the various groups I train. I present information in easy to understand language, with a focus on practical implementation and having fun.
OTC Move to Learn
This is a half day INSET training course delivered in person and aimed at empowering Early Years Foundation & Key Stage 1 teaching staff to easily, effectively and safely implement 20 minute gross motor skills sessions for groups of up to 10 children. Various of the schools I have trained use this program during their PE sessions. I have specifically included activities in the program that are safe, fun, and geared towards improving key physical skills needed for the classroom environment, such as concentration and staying seated at the table. This is what some of my course participants have said after attending the OTC Move to Learn training:
“Excellent. Very informative course!”
“Great ideas, children will 100% benefit using this approach.”
“Fantastic! It was great to put the pictures and talk into practice.”
OTC The Essentials of Handwriting Workshop
A 2 hour INSET / Twilight workshop delivered in person and aimed at primary school teaching staff, to develop a basic understanding of the background skills that support handwriting, as well as the 'what, when and how' of teaching actual handwriting skills. See below what some of my course participants have said after attending the workshop:
“Very insightful, valuable and enjoyable.”
“Well delivered, pacey and informative. Good balance of information and practical.”
"Excellent, very helpful!”
OTC The abc of Handwriting
A full day INSET training course delivered in person and aimed at primary school teaching staff, to develop a more in-depth understanding of the background skills that support handwriting, as well as the 'what, when and how' of teaching actual handwriting skills. More opportunities are provided to explore effective handwriting teaching strategies, as well as classroom based solutions to handwriting related difficulties. See below some feedback from course participants:
“A really well informative course. Well presented and in a way I could understand.”

OTC Making Sense of Sensory Processing
A half day training course delivered in person and aimed at parents of, or professionals working with, children who have sensory processing difficulties. The course is geared towards developing an increased understanding of sensory processing difficulties, how it may present in a child's everyday life, and contains lots of practical advice and ideas on how to help a child and create a sensory lifestyle. This is what some parents and professionals have said after attending the course:
“Excellent, really useful"
"Brilliant presentation, very interesting"
"Had quite a few light bulb moments"
OTC Sensory Matters, in partnership with Potential Plus UK
An online real-time course aimed at parents and carers of children who are experiencing sensory processing difficulties, with a focus on children with high learning potential.
The course runs over three 1 hour interactive sessions delivered weekly in the evenings, with a fourth session a month later. During the course participants learn what adequate sensory processing is, what it looks like when sensory processing ‘goes wrong’, and gain lots of practical strategies to try at home during the intervening weeks - to help children manage their sensory processing difficulties. The gap between the third and fourth session allows participants to start embedding the management strategies learnt into their children’s everyday routines to create a sensory lifestyle, with the fourth session allowing opportunities to discuss and explore solutions for difficulties they have encountered.
“This course was extremely relevant to me, and advice from an OT with experience of the high learning potential (HLP) perspective was invaluable.”
“The course was fabulous! It covered what SPD is, walked through thinking about my child’s specific version, and finished with how to plan a sensory diet. Honestly, perfect.”
"We were provided with some invaluable practical tips about how to assist our children and support their needs.”
